MEET THE FOUNDER

From military medicine to smarter clinical education.

My journey in healthcare began in 1997, shortly after graduating from high school, when I joined the United States Army as a Combat Medical Specialist. During my military service, I was deployed to Bosnia for seven months. While completing Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, I also took and passed the Emergency Medical Technician–Basic examination.

Following my honorable discharge in 2001, I worked as a phlebotomist for seven years while pursuing respiratory care. At West Virginia Northern Community College, I received the Floyd W. Lasure Scholarship for academic excellence, was selected for the West Virginia All-State Academic Team, and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

I earned an Associate in Applied Science in Respiratory Care in 2008, became a Certified Respiratory Therapist, and earned the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential three months later. In 2012, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care at Grand Canyon University and later earned the Adult Critical Care Specialist credential.

Today, I work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

After years of studying, testing, and working in clinical environments, I began thinking about how educational technology could address not only what healthcare professionals study, but also how they study. That idea became Medical Education Dynamics.
