Respiratory Edge Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Respiratory Edge Android app and its supporting services operated by Medical Education Dynamics LLC. The separate website privacy policy covers the company website and waitlist.

Do not enter patient names, medical records, or protected health information. Respiratory Edge is an educational app and is not designed to receive or store patient data.

2. Information the App Processes

Account and security information

• Email address and Firebase account identifier when you create or use an account.
• Authentication tokens and limited security information needed to keep signed-in requests private.
• Your password is sent securely to Firebase Authentication and is not saved by the app.

Profile and study information

• Your preferred name and language, audio choice, study progress, bookmarks, view position, unfinished exam state, and practice results.
• Your My Study Guide notes, highlights, formatting, selected excerpts, and reading or listening position.
• Most study information is stored on your device. When you separately choose sync, eligible study collections are also sent to your signed-in account's protected cloud storage.

Crystal AI and Gracie voice

• Text you submit to Crystal and your selected language are sent through the protected Respiratory Edge service to OpenAI so Crystal can generate a response.
• The app does not keep the current Crystal chat as a local chat history. Service providers may process limited operational and security logs under their applicable terms.
• For personalized Gracie speech, the app sends your preferred name and the greeting or narration text through the protected Respiratory Edge service to ElevenLabs. Generated audio is played from memory rather than saved as a permanent recording by the app.
• When you use microphone commands, your device's speech-recognition provider may process audio under its own privacy terms. Respiratory Edge receives the recognized text for the command; it does not send raw one-shot command audio to the Respiratory Edge server.

Google Play purchases

• Product identifier, purchase token, order-related status, and your signed-in account binding are sent to the protected receipt service to verify ownership and prevent unauthorized access.
• Google Play handles payment-card and billing details. Respiratory Edge does not receive your full payment-card number.

Technical information

Hosting and security providers may process limited technical records such as timestamps, network address, requested service route, response status, and security events to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the service.

3. How Information Is Used

• Authenticate your account and protect one learner's data from another learner.
• Save and restore the study information you choose to synchronize.
• Remember your preferences, progress, notes, and exact study position.
• Generate Crystal responses and Gracie speech requested by you.
• Verify, restore, and remove access to Google Play products according to valid store ownership.
• Prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, maintain security, and comply with law.

4. Service Providers

We share only the information needed for a selected feature with these providers:

• Google Firebase Authentication for account creation, sign-in, email verification, password reset, and account deletion.
• Google Cloud Run and Firestore for protected app services, optional study synchronization, account separation, and receipt records.
• OpenAI for Crystal text responses.
• ElevenLabs for requested Gracie speech.
• Google Play for storefront billing and purchase ownership.
• Your device's speech-recognition provider when you choose microphone commands.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or during a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information.

5. Retention and Deletion

Local study information remains on your device until you edit it, delete it, clear the app's local storage, or remove the app. Synchronized study information remains associated with your account while the account and sync feature are in use.

When an authenticated account-deletion request completes, Respiratory Edge deletes the Firebase sign-in account, synchronized study collections, and Respiratory Edge receipt records. A minimal coded deletion marker remains to prevent delayed requests from restoring erased receipt data. It contains no receipt token, order details, email address, notes, or study content.

Account deletion does not remove local notes from your device, erase copies you exported or shared, cancel or refund Google Play purchases, or erase records that Google must retain. You control local removal separately and manage store transactions through Google Play.

Limited operational, security, and legal records may be retained only as reasonably needed to protect the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Provider processing is also governed by each provider's applicable terms and retention controls.

6. Your Choices

• Use local study features without turning on optional study synchronization.
• Mute Crystal voice, effects, and button sounds in the app.
• Decline microphone access and use text or touch controls instead.
• Edit or delete local notes and study-guide content using the app's controls.
• Delete your account in the app through Menu → Account → Delete account, or follow the external account-deletion instructions.
• Manage purchases, refunds, or subscriptions through Google Play.

7. Security

Respiratory Edge uses authenticated requests, encrypted HTTPS connections, account-separated cloud records, restricted service access, and verified Google Play ownership. No online or local system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device and account credentials protected, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

8. Children

Respiratory Edge is designed for respiratory-care students, exam candidates, educators, and professionals. It is not directed to children under 13. A child under 13 should not create an account or submit personal information.

9. Policy Changes

We may update this policy when app features, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate notice.
